CPC pledges tougher measures against corruption
The Communist Party of China will step up efforts to tackle both the symptoms and root causes of corruption, strengthen punishment, and improve prevention, in order to win the battle against corruption, a senior discipline inspection official said on Friday.
Zhang Fuhai, deputy secretary of the CPC Central Commission for Discipline Inspection and deputy director of the National Supervisory Commission, made the remarks at a news conference in Beijing on the guiding principles from the fifth plenary session of the 20th CPC Central Committee.
The Party will act on the decisions of the fifth plenum, uphold the centralized, unified leadership of the Party Central Committee over anti-corruption work, and take a holistic approach, making unceasing efforts to eliminate the breeding grounds for corruption, Zhang said.
Since the 18th CPC National Congress, the Party Central Committee has resolved to "offend a few thousand, rather than fail 1.4 billion" and has led the whole Party in waging an unprecedented battle against corruption, he noted.
This effort has kept the Party's advanced nature and purity, and eradicated threats within the Party, state, and the military, he said.
He also stressed the need to ensure that officials do not have the audacity, opportunity, or desire to engage in corruption, saying that only by pursuing these three objectives in a coordinated manner can the Party address both the symptoms and root causes of corruption.
