Shanghai-based Zhongshan Hospital, which is affiliated with Fudan University, launched trial operations at its new campus in Qingpu district on Thursday to better provide high-level medical services to the Yangtze River Delta region.

Strategically located, the campus is positioned east of the Hongqiao International Open Hub and west of the integration development pilot zone of the Yangtze River Delta region. It serves as a key step to implement the Healthy China Initiative and the Yangtze River Delta integration strategy.

More than 20 nationally recognized specialty departments of the hospital, a comprehensive national medical center, will be introduced at the new campus, enhancing high-level diagnostic and treatment capabilities to meet public healthcare needs.

The campus will integrate new technologies such as 5G, robotics, and artificial intelligence in various applications, including patient registration, ward management, remote consultations, and AI-assisted diagnostics. Such advancements will facilitate the coordinated operation of electronic medical records, medical workstations, pharmacies, data integration, and patients' follow-up management, the hospital said.

Additionally, the campus will collaborate with Qingpu district to advance the construction of a medical innovation hub, promoting the integration of basic research, clinical validation, and industrial transformation.
