Around 80 students tested for TB with the same needle in Liaoning
A total of 78 students were tested with the same needle during routine tuberculosis screening at a high school in Shenyang, Liaoning province, local authorities said on Thursday.
The incident occurred on Tuesday at Kangping county senior high school, where a medical worker failed to follow the requirement to use a separate needle for each student, according to a statement released by a county investigation team.
Local authorities immediately suspended the screening after learning of the incident.
All 78 students involved have since undergone specialized testing, with no abnormalities detected, the statement said.
Parents raised concerns on Wednesday that multiple students had been tested using the same needle, media outlet Xinhuanghe said.
The county government has established a special investigation team to conduct a comprehensive inquiry and pledged to deal with the violations in accordance with laws and regulations.
The school is operating normally, while the investigation remains underway, the statement said.
