China Daily reporter Li Lei tested WorldSkills competition challenges firsthand, trying a Fuxing high-speed train simulator, robotic controls, decorative bread crafting and precision measuring tools. Tasks that seem straightforward often require intense focus and finely honed skills.
Seventy-one Chinese competitors won 41 gold medals at the event, placing China atop the WorldSkills gold medal standings for the fifth time.
Away from the spotlight, 220 million skilled workers across China practice their crafts on industrial front lines. Their expertise fuels industrial upgrades and lays the groundwork for China's self-reliance in science and technology.
