China's job market, unemployment rate stable through first 3 quarters
China's job market remained stable in first three quarters of 2026, with the unemployment rate staying within a reasonable range.
Latest figures unveiled by the National Bureau of Statistics on Monday show that the nation's urban surveyed unemployment rate stayed 5.2 percent on average in first nine months, pulling even with the same period of last year.
Specifically in September, the surveyed unemployment rate in urban areas nationwide was 5.2 percent, down by 0.1 percentage point from the previous month, the NBS said. The situation was the same in the nation's 31 major cities, such as Beijing and Shanghai, where the surveyed unemployment rate stayed around 5.2 percent in their urban areas in September.
The NBS added that, as of the end of third quarter, the number of migrant workers who work out of their hometowns totaled about 192.7 million, registering a year-on-year rise of 0.4 percent.
