The Fujian coast guard has conducted routine law-enforcement patrols in waters near Jinmen since the beginning of September, according to the China Coast Guard.
Zhu Anqing, spokesman for the East China Sea Bureau of the China Coast Guard, said the Fujian coast guard has deployed task forces to carry out the patrols in accordance with the law, continuously strengthening control over the relevant waters.
The patrols are aimed at protecting the legitimate rights and interests, as well as the lives and property, of fishermen on both sides of the Taiwan Strait, he said.
They also help maintain normal navigation and operational order in the waters between Xiamen and Jinmen, Zhu added.
