Consulate General in New York hosts the second 'Moonlit Melodies' Mid-Autumn Festival Soiree

The Chinese Consulate General in New York hosted its second "Moonlit Melodies" Mid-Autumn Festival reception on Monday evening at the Rainbow Room in Rockefeller Center.

Consul General Chen Li welcomed nearly 100 guests from various sectors across the consular district. He extended warm Mid-Autumn Festival greetings to the guests.

"The Mid-Autumn Festival is one of the most cherished traditions in Chinese culture," he said. "At its heart is a very simple idea: the cherishing of family and friendship. That's something Chinese and Americans all share."

He noted that China-US relations are at an important juncture, with the two presidents set to meet soon.

He expressed the hope that, under the strategic guidance of the leaders, the two sides will uphold mutual respect, peaceful coexistence and win-win cooperation, strengthen dialogue and mutual understanding, advance a constructive and strategically stable relationship, and jointly contribute to world peace and development.

At the concert, Chinese violinist Huang Mengla and pianist Aristo Sham performed the Chinese classic The Butterfly Lovers, along with works by Beethoven, Chopin and Rachmaninoff. Attendees praised the program and expressed hope that China-US exchanges would continue steadily.
