UN official: Beijing Xiangshan Forum shares commonality with UN multilateralism
UN Under-Secretary-General for Peace Operations Jean-Pierre François Renaud Lacroix said he sees "a very strong commonality" between the multilateralism represented by the United Nations and the spirit of dialogue at the Beijing Xiangshan Forum.
In an interview posted on the Beijing Xiangshan Forum's official X account, @XiangshanForum, Lacroix said the commonality is evident in their emphasis on promoting dialogue.
"UN multilateralism is about dialogue," he said, adding that it is about striving to resolve differences through peaceful means.
Lacroix noted that peaceful means involve dialogue and efforts to bridge differences without resorting to violence.
"From that point of view, it is very clear that the commonality of approach between what the UN represents, multilateralism, and the spirit of dialogue here in the Beijing Xiangshan Forum is absolutely evident to me," he said.
