Chinese streetwear label STAYREAL and Shanghai's Oriental Pearl TV Tower launched a Mid-Autumn Festival-themed cultural experience along the Huangpu River, bringing together public art and waterfront spaces.
"Moon For You, Moment With You" is a project that extends from the riverbank to the water, using Shanghai's skyline and the Huangpu River as a setting for a contemporary interpretation of traditional Mid-Autumn Festival imagery.
The initiative includes the renovated Oriental Pearl tourist pier, a 7-meter-tall public art installation, a themed cruise, and a floating pop-up space on the Huangpu River.
The installation Moon Gazing with Mojo Carrot & Rabbit Q features two characters from STAYREAL's MOJO FAMILY sitting beneath a full moon. Set against the Lujiazui River skyline, the installation is illuminated after nightfall, becoming part of Shanghai's waterfront landscape.
Inside the themed STAYREAL Dream Cruise, traditional images associated with Mid-Autumn Festival are transformed into interactive experiences. Visitors can explore representations of lunar phases, search for character-inspired constellations, and receive themed messages centered on reunion, longing and dreams.
A "sea post office" on board also allows visitors to write letters to their future selves or to people far away, offering another way of expressing sentiments traditionally associated with the festival.
The experience also includes STAYREAL's first limited-time floating retail space on the Huangpu River. Combined with the pier, installation and cruise, it forms a series of connected spaces along the waterfront.
The Chinese Mid-Autumn Festival has long been associated with reunion, remembrance, and gathering. The project uses the moon as its central motif, linking the traditional practice of moon-gazing and the pursuit of one's dreams.
The collaboration marks the third collaboration between STAYREAL and the Oriental Pearl TV Tower since 2024.
By placing festival-themed activities within one of Shanghai's best-known urban landscapes, the project explores how traditional cultural symbols can be reinterpreted through contemporary visual culture and integrated into everyday city life.
