Guangdong attracts over 1m college graduates in 2026

Guangdong has attracted more than one million university and college graduates for work and to start businesses so far this year, demonstrating that the southern province remains a sought-after destination for talents, according to a statement released Thursday by the Organization Department of the Communist Party of China Guangdong Provincial Committee.

The province has now topped the one million mark for two consecutive years.

In March, Guangdong joined hands with the Ministry of Education to organize a massive spring job fair to attract talent from around the country and abroad. The event featured a supply-demand match-making platform centered on the coordinated development of the manufacturing and service sectors. Nearly 2,000 enterprises and public institutions, including Tencent, BYD, Gree, Xpeng, and China Southern Power Grid, offered more than 85,000 job vacancies.

Building on last year’s spring job fair, which drew 120,000 participants, and autumn job fair, which rose to 150,000 candidates, this year’s spring event attracted more than 170,000 students from more than 2,000 universities at home and abroad, according to the statement.

The fair was accompanied by a province-wide spring recruitment campaign that brought 7,400 employers to more than 120 campus events at universities across 13 municipalities and provinces, including Beijing, Shanghai, Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Hubei, Jiangxi, and Hunan, attracting over 220,000 college graduates.

The campaign is part of efforts to solve employment issues through economic development, particularly in innovation and manufacturing. In recent years, Guangdong has fostered 10 strategic industrial clusters, each worth one trillion yuan, the statement said.
