Shanghai is set to host the 2026 Pudong Furniture and Home Expo from Sept 7 to 11, bringing together the 31st China International Furniture Expo (Furniture China) and the 2026 Maison Shanghai Modern Design Week. The event will span two venues in Pudong, Shanghai, and is expected to feature more than 3,200 brands, across 350,000 square meters of exhibition space, attracting more than 200,000 professional visitors from around the world.
The expo will be held at two main venues. The Shanghai World Expo Exhibition & Convention Center will host the 2026 Maison Shanghai Modern Design Week from September 7 to 10, with a focus on design, trends, and lifestyle. The Shanghai New International Expo Centre will host the 31st China International Furniture Expo from September 8 to 11, focusing on manufacturing, trade, and the supply chain.
The event will showcase the strength of original Chinese design, bringing together hundreds of domestic design brands alongside international brands from France, Italy, Denmark, Belgium, the Netherlands, the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia, Turkiye, Mongolia, Bulgaria, Japan, South Korea, Singapore, Malaysia, Vietnam, Indonesia, India, Thailand, Germany, Romania, Russia, Canada, and other countries.
More than 20 thematic exhibitions will be held, including the "BRANDHIGHLAND" exhibition, which will explore the evolution of Chinese furniture from "products" to "lifestyle" and "workplace solutions" under the themes of "Symbiosis" and "Innovation."
Renowned Chinese designers such as Lu Zhirong, Zhu Bingren, Zhong Song, Hou Zhengguang, Lu Tao, Zhu Wenli, and Xu Gang, together with independent curators and artists, will present exhibitions exploring Eastern culture and materials. These include "Modern Heritage Institute: Craftsmanship for Home," "Zen Tea Corner: Chun Xiang Li," "Deconstruction and Reconstruction: Weaving Home," "No Home Without Bamboo," and "Wenhua Ru Porcelain." Original design and fresh ideas will also be highlighted in exhibitions such as "Yi She: CHI WING LO INNER GARDEN," "No Copper, No Modern," and "Generation: AI Art Joint Exhibition."
The prestigious Golden Point Award, a major award in China's design field, will continue to be chaired by Prof Dr Peter Zec, founder of the Red Dot Award and its brand ambassador. This year, the award system will expand to include parallel tracks: the China Furniture Design Golden Point Award and the China Architectural Decoration Golden Point Award.
The expo will also host a series of forums, including the main forum "Modern Design Conference," themed "Good Houses, Good Design, Good Life." Sub-forums will explore global design exchanges, design practices, lifestyle trends, and modern urban development.
Supporting events for major awards such as the China Furniture Design Golden Point Award, China Architectural Decoration Golden Point Award, and the Golden Axe Material Award will also be held. These will include the China Furniture Design Golden Point Award Summit Forum and discussions on architectural decoration solutions for China's new era.
