The Tianmen Mountain Scenic Area in Zhangjiajie, Hunan province, recently launched a series of summer activities featuring traditional folk performances, attracting crowds of domestic and international visitors.

On Sunday, performers of the Tujia ethnic group in traditional attire ascended the iconic 999-step staircase leading to the Tianmen Cave. Bamboo tubes filled with local liquor were poured down the steps, enticing many tourists to queue up for a taste and to capture the moment on camera.

In the square below, a variety of folk performances delighted visitors, including lion dances and bamboo pole dances. A captivating display of traditional Tujia martial arts featured performers breaking stones with their bare hands, drawing cheers and prompting a few audience members to try.
