Visitors to the Diachronic Museum of Aegina, on the Greek island of the same name, will these days find themselves immersed in the contemplative world of Eastern art and philosophy.

Ink paintings and sculptures by 11 Chinese artists are on display in Remote Mountains and Rivers: Spiritual Homeland, an exhibition that creates a world of resonance to explore the breadth and depth of Chinese culture, while opening a dialogue between past and present, and between East and West.

Seven of the works on show come from the collection of the National Art Museum of China in Beijing. The exhibition, which runs until Nov. 20, is curated by Wei Xiangqi from the Beijing museum.

The exhibition illustrates the classical Chinese aesthetic principle of "embodying the rules of nature through form and clearing the mind to perceive the world's essence". Through their reflections on nature and life, the works explore the inner and spiritual condition of humanity.
