Chinese and Belarusian airborne troops will hold the Swift Eagle 2026 joint training exercise in Hubei province in mid-to-late August, a Chinese Defense Ministry spokesman said on Friday.

Chen Xi, a spokesman for the Ministry of National Defense, said at an online news briefing that the training will focus on joint counter-terrorism operations in urban environments.

The exercise will cover subjects including surveillance and counter-surveillance, seizure and control operations, protection, and offensive and defensive operations, Chen said.

As the fourth iteration of the joint training, the exercise will help enhance the combat capabilities of the participating troops and deepen substantive cooperation between the two militaries, he added.
