China has allocated 50 million yuan ($7.4 million) from the central government budget to support post-disaster recovery in Shaanxi province following severe flooding triggered by recent heavy rainfall, according to an announcement posted on Wednesday on the National Development and Reform Commission's official WeChat account.

The funds will be used primarily to restore damaged infrastructure, including roads and water conservancy facilities, as well as public service facilities such as schools and hospitals in disaster-hit areas, the commission said.

The commission said the goal is to help affected areas restore normal production and living conditions as quickly as possible.

Also on Wednesday, China activated a Level-IV national disaster relief emergency response, the lowest level in the country's four-tier emergency response system.
