China launches the 15th Kinetica 1 carrier rocket, sending 5 satellites into orbit

The Kinetica 1 model — with a length of 30 meters, a diameter of 2.65 meters, and a liftoff weight of 135 tons — is capable of deploying satellites with a combined weight of 1.5 tons to a typical sun-synchronous orbit about 500 kilometers above Earth.

Among the satellites launched in Friday's mission, Chenguang 1 will be used to verify space energy and heat dissipation technologies tailored for space-based data centers. Equipped with a commercial computing server and a compact remote sensing camera, the satellite conducts on-orbit experiments on core technologies for onboard computing while offering trial in-orbit application services and Earth observation imaging capabilities.

Gande 1A is regarded as China's first commercial satellite dedicated to space debris monitoring. Fitted with one wide-field survey camera and one high-resolution precise measurement camera, it will enable effective detection of tiny space debris and support the establishment and dynamic update of a catalog database for miniature orbital debris.
