35 years of China-ASEAN dialogue: A fruitful journey
As ASEAN and China mark 35 years of dialogue relations, Joanne Lin, senior fellow and coordinator of the ASEAN Studies Centre at ISEAS-Yusof Ishak Institute, told China Daily's Global Lens that the partnership has evolved far beyond market access and trade. She noted that cooperation now spans supply chains, investment, infrastructure, digital trade, the green economy, tourism and innovation, making the two economies increasingly interconnected.
Looking ahead, Lin emphasized that the next phase of ASEAN-China economic cooperation should focus on quality, resilience, inclusive growth and greener development, bringing practical benefits to businesses and communities while supporting shared prosperity in an uncertain world.
