A cultural and tourism industry exchange event between Guangzhou and Shanghai was held in Shanghai on Tuesday, in an effort to build a cooperation platform for two-way exchange in the cultural and tourism industry between the two cities, and to promote the deep integration of Guangzhou's cultural tourism resources with top-level resources in the Yangtze River Delta region.

Nansha district in Guangzhou is located at the geometric center of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, covering 11 cities within a radius of 100 kilometers. It takes 20 minutes to reach Shenzhen Bao'an International Airport, 28 minutes to reach the central urban area of Guangzhou by taking Metro Line 18, and 45 minutes to reach West Kowloon, Hong Kong by taking the railway. The one-hour transportation circle covers the five major international airports in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, radiating over 87 million consumers.

Ouyang Jianhua, head of the publicity department of the district, said: "After the opening of the Shenzhen–Zhongshan Link connecting the east and west sides of the the Pearl River estuary, Nansha district has leapt from the geographical and geometric center of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area to a strategic hub.

"The passage of major cities in the area is more convenient, and the expansion of the cultural and tourism market has accelerated."

Nansha port area of Guangzhou Port is the second single port area in China to exceed an annual throughput of 20 million Twenty-foot Equivalent Units, or TEUs, following Yangshan port in Shanghai.
