Black Box 731, a book that presents extensive evidence — including historical photos — of war crimes committed by the Japanese Imperial Army's Unit 731, was released on Sunday at the Exhibition Hall of Evidences of Crime Committed by Unit 731 in Harbin, Heilongjiang province. He collected more than 400 hours of oral and video history, more than 20,000 pieces of physical evidence and 300,000 pages of historical documents.

"The title 'Black Box' refers both to the core secrets and dark confines of human experimentation within Unit 731 and metaphorically to operations in which the United States, in pursuit of germ warfare data, struck secret deals with Japanese war criminals to cover up the truth after the war," Jin said. "The book also focuses on postwar lawsuits and chemical weapons victims. It documents the complex journey of scholars from China and abroad in their pursuit of truth and peace."
