Two officials put under investigation over gas explosion in a mine

Two officials from the Shanxi branch of the National Mine Safety Administration have been placed under investigation on Saturday by the provincial supervisory commission in connection with a gas explosion.
Hu Huisong and Yu Zhangqing, two officials at the 8th mine safety supervision and enforcement office of the Shanxi branch of the administration, are suspected of serious violations of the law, according to the commission's official statement.
The investigation is linked to the gas explosion on May 22 at the Liushenyu Coal Mine, operated by the Tongzhou Group. The mine is in Qinyuan county of Changzhi city in Shanxi province.
