As summer temperatures continue to rise, Yanhu Lake in Yuncheng, Shanxi province, has donned a limited edition crimson attire of Dunaliella salina.
During the process of reproduction, the algae in the lake produce natural pigments, causing the lake water to turn red and form a short-term annual ecological beauty.
The best viewing period is from June to July every year.
