The Power Renewable Resources Recycling Center of State Grid Chongqing Electric Power Company in Yongchuan district, Southwest China's Chongqing, has recycled a total of 26,700 metric tons of decommissioned power grid materials, cutting carbon emissions by approximately 1.12 million tons since its inception in 2022. "The materials dismantled at our center are highly sought after by downstream manufacturers," Wang noted. Specialized equipment has been developed to process each category of material, yielding high-quality recyclable metals such as iron, aluminum and copper. Last year alone, the center recovered over 2,000 tons of copper, demonstrating the efficiency of its recycling processes.

Wang also emphasized the environmental benefits of recycling aluminum. "Each ton of recycled aluminum saves 95 percent of the energy used in production compared to primary aluminum smelting and reduces carbon emissions by 13.35 tons," he explained.
