Russian President Vladimir Putin began a two-day state visit to China on May 19. Wang Yiwei, a professor of the School of International Studies, Renmin University of China, said in an exclusive interview with China Daily that the China-Russia relationship has forged a new model of major-country relations.

He noted that the Sino-Russian comprehensive strategic partnership of coordination for a new era calls for the two countries to strengthen strategic coordination on global hotspot issues.
