Zhejiang's Orchid Pavilion sees surge in visitors
In May, a gentle breeze rustles through lush groves of bamboo in Lanting scenic area, also known as the Orchid Pavilion, in Shaoxing, Zhejiang province. Nestled at the foot of Lanzhu Mountain, Tianzhang Temple is elegant, its understated wooden structures blending seamlessly with verdant hills and swaying bamboo.
Free from noisy and commercial clutter, the temple has recently surged in popularity, emerging as an unexpected hotspot for those seeking the essence of Eastern aesthetics.
On Chinese social platform RedNote, or Xiaohongshu, the site has been described as "the cultural scenic spot with the best aesthetics in China". One user wrote, "This is the ultimate garden aesthetic embedded in Chinese DNA," while another wrote, "Tianzhang Temple is the ceiling of Chinese-style aesthetics."
