Miao communities in Taijiang, Guizhou province, set off fireworks during dragon dances to celebrate the Lantern Festival, which fell on Tuesday.
More than 60 dragons snaked through the streets and alleys of the county. Each was carried by at least 50 people and by as many as 100 people.
Spectators held handheld fireworks that showered sparks as the dragons passed. Locals say the louder the firecrackers, the greater the good fortune.
