SEOUL -- The launch of South Korea's first commercial space launch vehicle failed due to an anomaly after liftoff, local media said Tuesday.

Hanbit-Nano, developed by the space company Innospace, was launched at about 10:13 am local time (0113 GMT) from the Alcantara Space Center in Brazil.

The vehicle experienced an anomaly and was presumed to have disintegrated and exploded after liftoff, failing the launch, according to Newsis.

The company had yet to announce an official statement about the situation.
