Liaoning launches first province-level online book lending platform
Liaoning province recently launched Wanjuanfudi, the nation's first province-level coordinated public library online lending platform.
The platform has initially integrated 500,000 volumes of library resources from the Liaoning Provincial Library and 14 municipal libraries.
Citizens only need to open the Wanjuanfudi app on mobile phones, select a book, and place an order. A courier will deliver the book to their home. Each user is eligible for one free shipping service each quarter.
The platform is a response to the previous issues of slow updates in grassroots libraries and the inaccessibility and high costs of accessing books in remote areas.
Wanjuanfudi is jointly developed by the Liaoning Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism and the Provincial Public Cultural Service Center. It is a key cultural benefit project in the 2025 Liaoning Provincial Government Work Report.
Next, local governments plan to integrate all 127 of the province's public libraries into the platform and include resources from university libraries and urban reading rooms to achieve broader sharing and extend the program's reach.
