Among the competitors was 87-year-old Xiao Yulan, a member of a local Rubik's Cube club in Chongqing whose average member age exceeds 80. Xiao began learning the cube two years ago.
"I was already 85 when I started learning the Rubik's Cube. At first, I worried I might not master the skills, but now I practice for over half an hour every day. My mind feels sharper, and my mood has lifted too," Xiao said.
"I didn't join the competition for rankings, I just wanted to test my skills, interact with younger players and soak in the vibrant energy around me."
