An ecological park in Weining county of Bijie, Guizhou province, has entered its peak viewing season for autumn and winter scenery.
Situated on the northern slope of Caohai Lake, the park serves as a key buffer for the Caohai National Nature Reserve, which protects plateau wetland ecosystems and is one of China's main wintering grounds for the black-necked crane, a bird species endemic to the country's highlands.
Reforestation efforts have helped restore vegetation on the northern slope. Local media reports that forest cover there has risen from below 10 percent to about 70 percent.
