Festival showcases Chinese documentaries

During the festival's closing ceremony, a total of 23 documentaries were selected for permanent preservation by the National Audio-Visual Archives Program, an initiative launched by the China Central Newsreel and Documentary Film Studio (Group). [Photo provided to chinadaily.com.cn]

In addition, Mountains and Rivers Bearing Witness was selected for permanent preservation by the National Audio-Visual Archives Program, an initiative launched by the China Central Newsreel and Documentary Film Studio (Group) to safeguard valuable historical footage and works for future generations.

The Annual Specially Recommended Documentary Film Work award went to Hotline Beijing, which explores how the capital city of over 20 million people efficiently handles more than 60,000 complaint calls daily.

Chinese White Dolphin, which documents the living environment, growth trajectory and reproductive process of the titular creatures, won the Science and Nature Recommended Work award. The Third Pole, which follows the wild animals inhabiting the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, took home the Most Recommended Cinematography award.
