A galaxy of ancient civilizations thriving along the ancient Silk Road is brought to life through more than 220 cultural relics now on show at Where Civilizations Meet: Collections from Museums of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Member States, an exhibition in Beijing.

Collections of 10 museums and cultural institutions of SCO member states illuminate the ancient civilizations and highlight their mutual influences at this ongoing exhibition at the National Museum of China, through to Nov 16.

Opened on Wednesday to coincide with the SCO Summit 2025 in Tianjin, the show spans periods from prehistoric times to the early 20th century.

The exhibits include gold ornaments, ceramics, textiles, and armor, reflecting the distinctive traditions and artistry of diverse civilizations. By showcasing shared influences and unique identities, the exhibition offers a rare opportunity for SCO members and partners to deepen mutual understanding and strengthen cultural ties.
