Wuzhen set for theater festival

The 12th Wuzhen Theatre Festival will feature 25 productions from 10 countries between Oct 16 and 26. Tickets for the festival, themed on "Swirling Up", will go on sale on Aug 17, as announced during a media conference on Tuesday.
The festival's artistic director Meng Jinghui said that this year's event will include six sections — City of Humanity, The Brilliant Mirror, Blossom of Phenomena, Dance Toward the Edge, Intersection of Dreams and Academy Spotlight.
City of Humanity will feature this year's opening production, the Anthropolis-Marathon brought by the German theater Deutsches SchauSpielHaus Hamburg, with five Greek mythology tales staged in nine hours.
Other specially invited productions include Cyrano de Bergerac by Japanese director Suzuki Tadashi, Flower in the Mirror, Moon in the Water by Stan Lai, who is also the festival's director, and Multiple Bad Things by Australia's Back to Back Theatre.
The festival's recurring sections, the Emerging Theatre Artists' Competition and Outdoor Carnival, are calling for submissions.
Ticket sales will be conducted in two rounds on Aug 17 and Sept 3. Maintaining an affordable pricing policy, the tickets' average price will be below 380 yuan ($53).
