Shanghai-Hong Kong Youth Choir Festival launches
The inaugural Shanghai-Hong Kong Youth Choir Festival, which was held to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the founding of Shanghai Hong Kong Association, concluded in Shanghai on Saturday with a grand closing concert.
Under the theme "Shanghai-Hong Kong Heart-to-Heart, Singing for the Future," the three-day event brought together over 700 young singers from 30 choirs, including 300 participants from Hong Kong as well as Hong Kong families and institutions based in Shanghai.
The festival featured choir showcases, master classes and an academic symposium focusing on choral innovation.
At the closing ceremony, "Years of Unity", the anthem meant to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the association made its debut. More than 100 representatives, including Hong Kong residents, their children and alumni groups, joined to perform the song together.
Leaders of the Shanghai Hong Kong Association emphasized the importance of the event in fostering cultural exchange and strengthening solidarity between youths of both cities.
Officials from the Shanghai municipal government responsible for Hong Kong and Macao affairs and those from the Shanghai office of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region were present at the closing ceremony.
