SCO ministers reaffirm sci-tech cooperation in Chengdu

With the rapidly evolving global innovation landscape, science and technology ministers from Shanghai Cooperation Organization member states reiterated the importance of technological and innovation cooperation in Sichuan's Chengdu on Thursday.
They also emphasized the need for collaborative efforts in addressing the challenges of technology governance.
The remarks were made at the Ninth Meeting of Heads of Ministries and Departments of Science and Technology of the SCO Member States, held during the Second Belt and Road Conference on Science and Technology Exchange.
Chinese Science and Technology Minister Yin Hejun hosted the meeting, stating that in recent years, SCO member states have consistently upheld the sense of community with a shared future, adhered to the "Shanghai Spirit", and resolutely followed development paths suited to their national and regional realities.
Yin said all parties have deepened mutual beneficial cooperation, shared development opportunities and continuously consolidated scientific and technological innovation forces within the SCO, making significant contributions to promoting regional peace, stability and development.
In the face of the rapidly evolving global innovation landscape and the growing complexity of coordinating and governing science and technology, the meeting serves as an important platform to strengthen scientific and technological innovation cooperation mechanisms and collectively address global technological governance challenges, he said.
The Chinese government hopes that through this meeting, all parties can work together to deepen and solidify science and technology cooperation, making new and greater contributions to promoting the sustainable development of SCO member states and enhancing the well-being of people around the world, he added.
Ministers and representatives engaged in lively discussions in a friendly and practical atmosphere on the development policies of science and technology of each country, as well as the advancements of science and technology cooperation in the previous eight meetings.
