Heritage festival to showcase China's achievements in preservation

On Wednesday, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism announced that the 9th International Festival of Intangible Cultural Heritage will be held in Chengdu, Sichuan province, from May 28 to June 3.
With the theme "Promoting Cultural Exchange, Revitalizing Heritage Transmission, and Sharing a Better Life", the festival aims to better integrate intangible cultural heritage into modern life while showcasing China's latest achievements in ICH preservation.
This year's event will feature nearly 600 representative ICH projects, comprehensively demonstrating China's accomplishments in safeguarding living heritage. The opening parade will be a major highlight, with 51 performance teams from China and abroad presenting a spectacular procession of cultural displays.
A distinctive feature of this edition is technology's deep integration with ICH. Sixteen research institutions and tech companies will showcase cutting-edge applications in virtual reality and interactive AI in heritage preservation.
The organizers emphasized that this "tech + heritage" model will rejuvenate time-honored craftsmanship through creative transformation and innovation to help younger generations connect with ICH while broadening public access to preservation outcomes.
