After nearly six months of upgrade and renovation, the Shanghai South Railway Station has met the static acceptance criteria on Dec 20, paving the way for the completion of this overhaul in the first quarter of 2025, according to the local railway administration.
The renovation, kicking off on July 1, is expected to raise the capacity of the Shanghai South Railway Station in handling high-speed trains. Situated in the southwest of Shanghai's Xuhui district, the station was put into operation on July 1, 2006. It was the world's first railway station with a translucent dome design, closely connected to metro line 1, line 3, line 15 as well as the Shanghai south long-distance bus station.
