Ministry of Education OKs Chinese translations for foreign terms
The 16th batch of 18 recommended Chinese translations for foreign terms has been officially approved, with all recommended terms in this batch being related to artificial intelligence and information technology, the Ministry of Education said on Tuesday.
The selection of terms for this batch, including AIGC and LLM, mainly drew on expert recommendations and key reports, such as the 2024 Artificial Intelligence Large Language Model Technology Development Report.
It also referenced alphabetic terms that emerged in new words between 2021 and 2023, according to the ministry.
The first batch of 10 recommended Chinese translations for foreign terms, such as AIDS and e-mail, was approved in 2013 to promote standardized translations in all sectors of public life.
