The WBSC U-23 Baseball World Cup 2024 will be held from Sept 6 to 15 at the Shaoxing Baseball and Softball Sports Culture Center in Shaoxing, Zhejiang province. On Wednesday night, Zeng Menglong, the event's on-site liaison officer of the power supply team of State Grid Shaoxing Power Supply Company, was conducting night patrols with his colleague at the high-voltage distribution room.

They checked the operating condition of various switch lines after all the nighttime loads in the venue were turned on.

The 2024 U-23 Baseball World Cup gathers 12 baseball teams from five continents. The games will determine one gold, one silver, one bronze and nine individual awards. This is the first time that a city in the Chinese mainland has obtained the hosting rights for the U-23 Baseball World Cup, and it is also one of the highest-level World Baseball Softball Confederation events hosted by China.

To ensure a reliable power supply during the event, State Grid Shaoxing Power Supply Company coordinated with the organizers to learn their electricity demands. The company formed a team to develop a "one venue, one plan" and "one line, one plan" working mechanism. In accordance with the power supply standard implemented by the Asian Games, the company sent out staff members to monitor and patrol the competition venues, athlete accommodation areas and surrounding power supply lines. Assistance was provided to the venues' maintenance personnel to establish temporary facility access processing procedures. The company also informed generator manufacturers to carry out testing, trial operation and on-site monitoring of emergency generators.
