Young girl uses bank ATM emergency button to seek help after losing grandfather

A quick-thinking young girl in Quzhou, Zhejiang province, successfully used a bank ATM's emergency button to seek help after getting separated from her grandfather. The incident, which took place on July 30, has garnered widespread praise online for the girl's resourcefulness and sparked discussions about the importance of knowing how to use ATM emergency features.
At around 9 pm, Zhou Dongying, a staff member at Quzhou Rural Commercial Bank, received a call through the bank's intercom system. On the other end was a young girl's voice, nervously stating, "I've lost my grandfather."
The girl, who had been on her way home from a dance class, became separated from her grandfather and, without a phone, noticed the emergency button on a nearby ATM. She used the "red button" to contact the bank for assistance.
Zhou immediately asked if the girl had her grandfather's phone number, but she could not recall it. Unable to reach them directly, Zhou contacted the police. Officers swiftly arrived on the scene and found the girl's grandfather, who had been anxiously searching for his granddaughter near the school.
The reunion was a happy one, marking the first time Zhou had encountered such a situation in her role.
Many bank ATMs are equipped with red emergency buttons designed for urgent situations. Typically, these include a "call for assistance" button and an additional "emergency alarm" button. The alarm button connects directly to the bank's alarm system, alerting authorities instantly, while the "call for assistance" button enables two-way communication with the bank's monitoring center.
