Doctors' body slams violence against medical workers

The Chinese Medical Doctor Association issued a statement on Saturday condemning any form of violence against medical personnels and reaffirming their unwavering commitment to defending the dignity of healthcare workers after a doctor was attacked to death in Wenzhou, Zhejiang province.
At around 1 pm on Friday, a man injured a doctor at the Cardiology Department of the First Affiliated Hospital of Wenzhou Medical University and then jumped off a building, according to local police.
Around 1 am on Saturday, the injured doctor Li Sheng passed away due to severe injuries, the doctor association said, adding that it strongly urged relevant authorities to take effective measures to ensure the safety of medical personnel.
It also called upon all sectors of society to work together to create a harmonious and orderly healthcare environment.
Following the incident, the association has initiated a physician rights protection and assistance program and provided support to the family of the doctor.
