Four detained following death at construction site
Beijing authorities have detained four people involved in a collapse at a construction site in January that led to the death of a worker, police said on Tuesday.
An investigative report on the collapse, which occurred at a power project for Beijing Subway Line 3 in the capital's Chaoyang district, was released in the middle of last month.
It said the worker suffocated after being buried under sand and concluded that the accident was the result of unauthorized operations by construction personnel and inadequate safety management.
Beijing Xingyuan Fuyuan Power Equipment Installation Co, a specialized subcontractor, and Beijing Longxiang Hongtai Construction Engineering Co, a labor subcontractor, were identified as having primary management responsibilities for the incident, with administrative penalties recommended.
The four people detained are from the two companies and were directly linked to the accident, police said.
