First cross-border tourism charter flight from Shanghai to Kathmandu, Shigatse takes off
The first cross-border tourism charter flight from Shanghai to Nepal's capital Kathmandu and further to Shigatse of Xizang autonomous region was launched on Saturday with 105 travelers onboard, according to official sources.
During their 12-day trip, the tourists will experience a distinctive cross-border journey featuring well-known scenic spots in Nepal and Xizang, according to the Shanghai Municipal Bureau of Culture and Tourism.
Since the tourism charter flight between Shanghai and Shigatse was debuted a year ago, similar charter flights were operated in the past year, activating the in-depth tourism market in Shigatse.
For the first time in history, the Tibetan city welcomed more than 10 million tourists in 2023 and generated more than 5.8 billion yuan ($802.95 billion) in tourism revenue during the same period, hitting new records.
