A major theme of the motions put forward by Chinese lawmakers during the ongoing second session of the National People's Congress focused on advancing high-quality development and promoting new quality productive forces, according to the session's secretariat.

By Friday noon, the secretariat received 298 motions from NPC deputies, of which, 292 concentrated on legislative items, including those on administration, economy and social affairs.

"Many national lawmakers have attached importance to enhancing the high-quality development through high-quality legislation," Guo Zhenhua, head of the group for handling motions under the secretariat, said on Saturday.

He released that 27.7 percent of the motions are related to facilitating the growth of new quality productive forces.

"Upholding and implementing the whole-process people's democracy, 230 motions were made based on sufficient surveys and opinions collected from the public," he said.

In addition to the motions, the secretariat has got more than 7,000 suggestions from NPC deputies as of the press time, mainly covering emerging industries, digital economy, education, scientific and technological talent, business environment, and opening-up, according to him.

"A number of proposals are also related to the vitalization of the seed industry, calling for the country to apply more technologies in agricultural growth," he said.

Furthermore, integrating intangible cultural heritage into tourism and improving the nursing care services are also frequently being seen in the deputies' suggestions, he added.

Submitting motions and suggestions are a major duty of NPC deputies. To ensure they can better perform the duty and fully understand what they care about, NPC special committees have increased the connection and exchanges with deputies during the handling of motions and suggestions.
