The People's Liberation Army tracked and monitored a United States warship that transited the Taiwan Strait on Tuesday, a military spokesperson said on Tuesday afternoon.
Senior Colonel Shi Yi, spokesperson for the PLA's Eastern Theater Command, said in a statement that the missile destroyer USS John Finn transited the Taiwan Strait and publicly hyped its passage.
"The theater command organized naval and air forces to track and monitor the entire process, handling it in accordance with laws and regulations," he said.
"The theater command troops always maintain a high state of alert, ready to respond to all threats and provocations at any time," the spokesman warned.
