Coal mine accident kills 12 in Jixi city

Twelve people were killed and 13 injured in a coal mine accident that occurred Wednesday afternoon in Jixi city, Northeast China's Heilongjiang province, China Central Television reported on Thursday.
The inclined shaft car accident - which means the mine car loses control and falls down the inclined shaft when lifting or lowering the vehicle - occurred at 3:50 pm on Wednesday at Kunyuan Coal Mine in Jixi's Hengshan district.
All the injured have been sent to the hospital for treatment and the aftermath of the accident is being carried out in an orderly manner, local government told CCTV.
An investigation team was set up immediately after the accident and the cause of the accident is still under investigation.
