Official: Grain storage advocacy is annual routine
According to the bureau of commerce in Yiwu, Zhejiang province, the recent initiative calling for people to store household grains is routine advocacy.
A media outlet in Yiwu published a report about the grain storage initiative on Sunday.
According to the report, the office of the coordination group on food security in Yiwu issued a socialized grain storage initiative to all residents, saying that urban and rural residents should store enough food for more than 10 days, measured by their daily household food consumption.
Netizens had many interpretations and discussions about the initiative after its release.
It is a routine annual initiative, and it does not indicate that Yiwu has any particular circumstances, said an authority with the Yiwu bureau of commerce on Monday. Many other cities in Zhejiang are adopting similar measures to promote grain storage and enhance awareness of food security.
