Partnership formed to share China's metro expertise with Ho Chi Minh City

China Association of Metros, Guangzhou Metro Group and the Ho Chi Minh City Management Authority for Urban Railways signed a memorandum of cooperation (MOU) in Guangzhou, Guangdong province, on Thursday to support the Vietnamese city's construction of a new urban railway system.

The three parties will work together to establish common objectives to support the research and implementation of a development strategy for the urban railway system in Ho Chi Minh City, including the construction of a new urban railway system by 2035.

The cooperation among the three parties includes sharing China's experience and solutions in the preliminary planning of urban rail transit, collaboration in knowledge sharing and talent development, and cooperation in construction technology sharing, according to the MOU.

As the largest port city and economic center in Vietnam, Ho Chi Minh City is currently undergoing large-scale acceleration in urban rail construction.

Ho Chi Minh City aims to complete the construction of a new urban railway network by 2035, consisting of 11 lines covering a total distance of 225 kilometers.

Guangzhou Metro, established in 1992, has gained valuable experience in going global, by providing design, supervision, operation, consultation, training and information services in more than 100 cities domestically and internationally, according to the company.

The Guangzhou-based company has undertaken overseas projects such as the operation service of the Orange Line of Lahore in Pakistan, the rolling stock manufacturing supervision of the Blue Line Light Rail in Lagos, Nigeria and the full-process management and technical assistance service of the East Line Light Rail in Macao.
