WorldSkills Museum in Shanghai set for grand opening
The WorldSkills Museum, the world's first museum dedicated to vocational skills, will open to the public for free on November 7.
As the only official museum recognized by WorldSkills International, the museum was founded by China's Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security, the Shanghai Government and WorldSkills International.
Situated in a century-old historical building on the banks of the Huangpu River in Shanghai's Yangpu district, the WorldSkills Museum aims to raise awareness and improve understanding of the importance of skills throughout history and the future through six exhibition areas: Tools and Our World, Successful Global Movement, Skills Development and China, Skills for a Better World, Skills and Basic Science, and Skills and Industrial Revolution.
The museum will exhibit more than 2,000 valuable items related to skills from 39 WorldSkills member countries and regions on five continents.
Much of the original features of the historic building, including the octagonal prisms, walls and ceilings, were retained during the renovation. Chinese elements have also been integrated into the decor.
The museum has relied on digital technologies such as holographic projection, infrared interaction, and artificial intelligence to create a more immersive experience for visitors.
The reservation channel is opened starting in November, and visitors can make appointments through the museum's official website, WeChat account, and mini program.
