Government worker removed from post after inappropriately interfering with media interview
A government worker at a subdistrict in Shenzhen, the booming southern city in Guangdong province, was removed from his post for inappropriately interfering with media interview.
The reporter Huang Mingxuan from the Guangdong Radio and Television Station went to Longhua Sub-district on Tuesday morning to cover recent incidents involving electric scooters installed with canopy causing injuries. A man who claimed to be a subdistrict worker snatched her camera, while multiple security guards prevented her from retrieving the device, according to a post from the station on Sina Weibo.
There were shoving and jostling, and Huang was threatened, according to a video about the event. She then called the police.
Later on Tuesday, the subdistrict authority announced dismissal of the worker, surnamed Zhou, from the post as director of key areas' governance work office. It said that it has launched accountability procedures, and it will strengthen staff management and prevent such incidents from happening again.
Zhou then apologized for his inappropriate behavior.
