Shanghai Children's Library releases new list of recommended readings
National Library's children gallery and Shanghai Children's Library unveiled a new autumn list of 27 sets of recommended books for children from preschool to middle school ages on Sept 23.
The books are related to the fields of humanities, popular science, and literature, and were selected from more than 1,500 books by 157 publishing houses, according to the library.
More than 350 libraries from around the country have held reading and promotion events according to the seasonal lists over the past two seasons, said the library.
Nearly 60 percent of the books recommended this season are original, and the list was curated by experts from the library, and education and publishing circles.
The library said the unveiling of the seasonal list will continue to be an effort to guide children to read good books and help the city become more child-friendly.
